Chi Nei Tsang, which translates to working the energy of the internal organs, is a traditional Taoist massage focused on the abdomen. This therapy targets the muscles, connective tissues, and organs, such as the intestines, stomach, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, and lungs helping to stimulate and manipulate these areas. It also benefits the lymphatic, circulatory, and nervous systems through the abdominal region. By massaging, stretching, and rocking the belly, this practice releases negative energy accumulated from physical and emotional stress, promoting blood circulation and energy flow. This helps detoxify the body and boost the immune system.
Each organ is associated with specific emotional states:
*Liver & Gallbladder: Anger & Frustration
* Heart & Small Intestines: Unresolved Trauma, Hate & Impatience
*Spleen, Stomach & Pancreas: Worry & Anxiety
*Lungs & Large Intestine: Sadness & Depression
*Kidneys & Bladder: Fear & Fright
When emotional energy is not processed, it gets stored in the physical body, leading to problems over time. Negative emotions like fear, anxiety, depression, anger, and worry can cause significant damage to the body. These issues may stem from stress, overwork, surgeries or injuries, substance use, toxins, poor diet, or improper posture.
By improving the function of internal organs, Chi Nei Tsang enhances overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being. The massage works through the entire abdomen, divided into four quadrants, each containing specific acupressure points to release emotional blockages and relieve physical discomfort. The movement and energy begin at the navel, and physical blocks in this area can hinder movement, causing dysfunction, disease, and negative energy cycles. By releasing these blockages, the body regains its physical mobility, and mental and emotional blocks are also cleared. This therapy improves breath quality, digestive function, and posture.
My training in Thailand for Chi Nei Tsang taught me the road map to the abdomen, understanding the organs, their systems, and their functions. Each session is tailored to the client comfort, using bolsters and professional draping to ensure relaxation while releasing years of tension. Many clients report feeling revitalized and even years younger after a Chi Nei Tsang session. Longer sessions allow us to address abdominal dysfunctions related to the back, hips, and legs as well.
